Imagine waking up to this vista of your favourite mountain each morning -

Wharepapa aka Mt Arthur.

This home aligns with the mountain to the west but still takes advantage of passive solar design, focusing on north sun. The honed exposed aggregate concrete ground floor acts as a thermal battery, storing the sun’s energy to keep the internal spaces warm in winter and cool in summer. Combined with photovoltaic cells generating electricity, this home makes the most use of the sun. A large covered outdoor deck to the north adds to the living space.
